Nowadays many of us try to damage the environment as little as possible and we want to take these attitudes on holiday with us. This is why alternative form of tourism are becoming so popular throughout the world.
While there are a lot of people who travel around the world, some forms of travels are getting important. These are called responsible tourism, alternative tourism, sustainable tourism, nature tourism, adventure tourism, educational tourism and more, which has impact on environment and the cultures. Think about your tourism style, do you destroy the host's environment or do you want to protect the environment during your vacation?
What is eco tourism? Eco tourism essentially mean responsible travel to natural area that conserve the environment and improve the well being of local/host people. It must conserve the wildlife and culture of the area, benefit the local people and involve the local community, be sustainable, that is make a profit without destroying natural resources, provide an experience that tourists want to pay for. Stay in local hotels and eat in local restaurants. Buy local products whenever possible and pay a fair price for what you buy. A walk through the forest is not eco tourism unless the walk somehow benefits that environment and the people who live there. A rafting trip is only eco tourism if it raise awareness and fund to help the watersheed. A holiday spend exploring the countryside and villages, learning about the productions of local cuisine and craft. Tourist can refreshing and rewarding break from busy city life. The traveler can also be contributing to the sustainable tourisjm effort by supporting the comumunity to preserve their local tradition.
Sustainable tourism has following characteristics. View of economic prosperity, long term competitive and prosperous tourism businesses, quality employment opportunities, fair pay and conditions for all employees. View of social equity. Tourism that improves the quality of life of local communities, community involvement in tourism planning and management, safe, satisfying and fulfilling visitor experience. View of environmental and cultural protection, reduced pollution and degradation of the global and local environment, tourism that maintains and strengthens biodiversity, tourism that maintains and enriches our unique and diverse culture.
Today, many people enjoy traveling all of the world. In addition, there are a lot of tourism facilities. Foe example, Hotels, Restaurant, and many kind of accommondations, and also we have many type of tourism like Air tourism, Rail Tourism, Automobile Tourism, and Coach Tourism. Due to the development of the tourism we can enjoy having fun of the trip, seeing new culture, visiting friends and relatives, and etc. In contrast, it brought some negative influences for our environment. This is becoming a big problem these days.
Tourism development can put pressure on natural resources when it increases consumption in areas where resources are already scarce. Water, and especially fresh water, is one of the most critical natural resources. The tourism industry generally overuses water resources for hotels, swimming pools, golf courses and personal use of water by tourists. This can result in water shortages and degradation of water supplies, as well as generating a greater volume of waste water. Golf course maintenance can also deplete fresh water resources. In recent years golf tourism has increased in popularity and the number of golf courses has grown rapidly. Golf courses require an enormous amount of water every day and, as with other causes of excessive extraction of water, this can result in water scarcity. If the water comes from wells, overpumping can cause saline intrusion into groundwater. Golf resorts are more and more often situated in or near protected areas or areas where resources are limited, exacerbating their impacts.
Transport by air, road, and rail is continuously increasing in response to the rising numbe reported that the number of international air passengers worldwide rose from 88 million in 1972 to 344 million in 1994. One consequence of this increase in air transport is that tourism now accounts for more than 60% of air travel and is therefore responsible for an important share of air emissions. Transport emissions and emissions from energy production and use are linked to acid rain, global warming and photochemical pollution. Air pollution from tourist transportation has impacts on the global level, especially from carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions related to transportation energy use. And it can contribute to severe local air pollution. Some of these impacts are quite specific to tourist activities. For example, especially in very hot or cold countries, tour buses often leave their motors running for hours while the tourists go out for an excursion because they want to return to a comfortably air-conditioned bus. Thus, Tourism can cause the same forms of pollution as any other industry: air emissions, noise, solid waste and littering, releases of sewage, oil and chemicals, even architectural/visual pollution.
Pollution Tourism's relationship with the environment is complex. Many activities can have adverse environmental effect.
Many of these impacts are linked with the construction of general infrastructure, such as roads, airports, and tourism facilities- resorts, hotels, restaurants, shops, golf course, etc...

Depletion of natural resources
Because we use a lot of water for hotel, pool, golf courses, so the amount of water are decreasing.
